Terms of use

Last updated: 9 October 2026 · QuietWeb 0.4

In short: QuietWeb is free for personal and family use. Use it at home with your family. It only opens the websites you chose, and we're honest about what it can't do. Nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer.

1. Who we are

QuietWeb™ is made and published by Controlled Systems Group Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17118598), registered office 58 Broton Drive, Halstead, England, CO9 1HB, the makers of QuietGuard™. In these terms, "we" and "us" means that company. You can reach us at support@quietguard.io.

2. What QuietWeb is

QuietWeb is a web browser that only opens the websites a parent has saved. Every other website, link, redirect and pop-up doesn't load. The guide explains in detail how it works.

3. Free for personal and family use

QuietWeb is free for personal and family use. We give you a personal, non-exclusive right to install it on devices you own or look after, and to use it at home for yourself and your family. You don't need an account.

The free version is for personal use only. It is not licensed for use by schools, businesses, charities or other organisations, or for any commercial purpose. If you'd like to use QuietWeb in an organisation, please write to us: we may offer a licence for that, on separate terms.

4. Please don't

The open-source parts inside QuietWeb keep their own licences, which give you their own rights; nothing here limits those. They are listed on the open-source credits page.

5. What QuietWeb does, and what it can't do

QuietWeb does one thing: inside QuietWeb, pages that aren't on your list don't open. We built it carefully and test it, and you can test it yourself. We want you to know its limits just as clearly:

6. Websites you open

The websites you save, and the services they use (such as YouTube's player for saved films, or DuckDuckGo for search), belong to other companies. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them. We aren't responsible for what they show or do.

7. Updates

We may release new versions to fix problems or improve QuietWeb. When one is ready, QuietWeb tells you, and installs it when you press "Update now". Every update is digitally signed by us. We may stop offering QuietWeb or a version of it in the future; the copy you have will keep working as it is.

8. Your privacy

QuietWeb collects no data. Your list, settings and usage report stay on your device. The privacy page has the details.

9. Our responsibility to you

QuietWeb is free, and we provide it as it is. As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will be free of faults or suit every family, and we aren't responsible for losses that come from using websites you chose to open.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility where the law doesn't allow that, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer. If QuietWeb damages your device or other digital content because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you fair compensation.

10. Our names and marks

QuietWeb™, QuietGuard™ and the Q mark are our trade marks. Please don't use them in a way that suggests something comes from us when it doesn't.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll publish the new version here with a new date, and the new version will come with the next update of QuietWeb. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using QuietWeb and uninstall it at any time.

12. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there. If you live elsewhere in the world, you keep any rights your own country's law gives you.
